Everyone seems to have an opinion on generative AI — or at least 99% of Dutch developers do. And for better or worse, it’s clear that GenAI will impact this industry. That’s why Matthijs Dierckx and the Dutch Games Association organized an event about adoption, stance, and the general past, present and future of this intersection.
The event took place last Thursday, 19th of June, in the Minnaertgebouw of Utrecht University, and brought together professionals, researchers, and creatives to explore what GenAI means for the games industry — from specific disciplines to broader implications for employees and the creative process.
We had fantastic contributions from:
Ludwin Schouten (CoolGames) on GenAI through the eyes of an art director
Jasper Vis (headcandy) on AI-driven video generation
Quinten Heijn (Hogeschool van Amsterdam) on coding in the age of AI
Johannes Pfau (Utrecht University) talking about experimental scientific GenAI
And Matthijs Dierckx (Studio Blue Storm), who just published the Dutch Games Monitor 2024, sharing insights on how GenAI is currently being adopted and perceived in the industry
All of that was magnificently hosted by Juney Dijkstra (Electronic Arts), and lived off all the speakers and attendees sharing energy, ideas, and engagement.
