On Monday April 15 the new website of the Center for Game Research at Utrecht University was launched during a small festive event. Present were game researchers invited from all over the University as well as the site’s editorial team. Project manager Matthijs Dierckx (pictured above) provided an overview of all the features and functionalities and answered questions from the audience which led to an engaging discussion on the potential of the website.
The website launch was part of the Week of the Game 2024. For the full programme, see here.
The new website will provide researchers with a focus on games research in its many forms within Utrecht University a platform to reach both existing and new audiences within and outside of the University. It does so by giving researchers the option to present their individual and project-based research, both past and present, through various types of posts. These are presented as part of various themes, disciplines, and research projects of which more will be added when needed. Other features, including social media integration will also be added.
The site is set up in such a way that it easy for individuals and teams to upload and present material themselves, with a small editorial team behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly. Students active within game research are also invited to contribute if they have interesting content to share.
We call for all researchers within Utrecht University active in games and play-related areas to contribute to this new platform and make it grow.
To see how contributing works, head over to the step-by-step guide which can be found here. Any additional questions or suggestions can be sent to gameresearch@uu.nl or, when needed, to specific members of the editorial team.
The legacy website of the Center for Game Research can still be found here.
